SAERfoam® FOR COMPOSITES CLIMBING WALL

CLIMB-UP started about 5 years ago at BSS Composites d.o.o. in Slovenia. Jani Grašič, General Manager, has worked in collaboration with the father of Domen Škofic. His son is a famous sport and rock climber who won in 2016 the IFSC Climbing WORLD Cup in Lead climbing.

THE IDEA

Climb up structure features quality composite material. Numerous possible combinations of multiple single products ensure advantage over competition without additional costs. Composite panel is made from a strong and lightweight SAERTEX material. Its weight/strength ratio sets it in front of many metals and other composite materials. Further on, it can be molded into complex shapes. We did save on weight by 30%, which is very important for assembling climbing walls, because of its height and inaccessible areas.

Technical Benefits

  1. 30% of weight saved
  2. Very good ratio Weight/Strength
  3. Quality and long shelf life (rot-proof)

REINFORCING THIS IDEA

Manufacturing using a Vacuum Infusion Process with polyester resin, multiaxial glass fabrics and structural SAERfoam®, BSS Composites also chose to use SAERflow, our structural flow media, to ensure perfect wet-out in the minimum time possible. SAERfoam® can be supplied in various sheet sizes or can be offered in CNC cut kits to facilitate high volume production. Using SAERflow with its improved resin flow enables reduction in the number of resin feeds without compromising on performance and reduces preparation time and consumable costs.

THE SUCCESS STORY

BSS Composites has been convinced to use SAERfoam® for its high level of structural properties, top quality and competitive cost. They are also now using SAERflow® to reduce final cost for climbing walls thanks to it’s high-flow speed Vs comparable material, and to the waste reduction as it fully replaces the peel-ply and the external flow mesh. The SAERTEX Team is available to offer technical support to customers who could benefit from using SAERfoam. more important details statement on the project
