NCF Technology

The basis for innovative lightweight structures

Textile reinforcements are the key to lightweight, high-strength and high-performance composite components. As one of the world's leading manufacturers,
SAERTEX offers a broad portfolio of technical textiles - precisely tailored to the requirements of a wide range of industries such as wind energy, construction, automotive, marine and aviation.

The focus is on our unidirectional and multiaxial fabrics - also known as non-crimp fabrics (NCF). They enable targeted adjustment of the mechanical properties: by selecting fiber material, area weight and fiber orientation.
Whether made of glass, carbon, aramid or natural fibers such as flax - SAERTEX supplies high-quality reinforcement materials for your fiber composites: innovative, flexible, worldwide.

Straight fiber orientation for high-performance fabrics

Woven vs. Non-Crimp fabric

Unlike wovens, the rovings are laid down straight, without undulation or wave formation. The straight fiber alignment allows an even distribution of the highest possible loads in the composite part. Several fiber layers with individually selectable angles (i.e. -22.5 to +22.5 and 0) are stitched together to form a fabric. The result is a high-performance reinforcement that is precisely tailored to the load requirements of the component.

The outcome: maximum design freedom and performance, with reduced weight and optimized processability.

Advantages of SAERTEX multiaxial fabrics

Maximum strength through stretched fibers

Optimal for maximum load absorption in the component - the quantity and orientation of the layers are precisely matched to the load direction.

Weight savings

Reduced component weight while maintaining the same mechanical characteristics or greater load capacity at the same weight.

Fewer layers = less effort and lower costs

High areal weights reduce the amount of material required as well as the insertion effort and thus also the costs.

Excellent drapability and permeability

Specially developed for infusion processes and individually adapted to customer requirements.

Resin compatibility

Compatible with all common matrix systems (Epoxy resins, unsaturated polyester resin, vinyl ester resin, polyurethane, polypropylene, polyamide and caprolactam etc.).

Individual configuration - tailored to your process

Available with reinforcement threads, mats or fleece, up to 3810 mm wide and 4000 g/m² weight - custom configurations on request.
