THE BASIS FOR SUCCESS – THE RAW MATERIALS FOR SAERTEX FABRICS

Aramid is an organic polymer gained from a fluid, chemical mixture. The light-yellow filaments can possess different properties, are very strong and have a very high specific modulus.


Carbon fibres are produced by way of a controlled oxidation, carbonisation and graphitisation of carbonrich materials which are already in the form of fibres. The raw material most frequently used is polyacrylonitrile (PAN).

The mixing of stone products (sand, kaolin, limestone, colmanite) at 1,250 °C produces a liquid glass. This liquid is pumped through microfine nozzles and simultaneously cooled in order to produce glass fibre filaments.
