Ultra-light composite wall with 30% weight reduction
CLIMB-UP started about 5 years ago at BSS Composites d.o.o. in Slovenia. Jani Grašič, General Manager, has been working with Domen Škofic's father. His son is a well-known sport and rock climber who won the IFSC Climbing WORLD Cup in lead climbing in 2016.

The Climb Up structure is made of high-quality composite material. Numerous possible combinations of several individual products give you an edge over the competition at no extra cost. The composite panel is made from a strong and lightweight SAERTEX material. Its weight to strength ratio puts it ahead of many metals and other composite materials. It can also be molded into complex shapes. We have saved 30 % of weight, which is very important for the assembly of climbing walls due to their height and inaccessible areas.

When manufacturing using the vacuum infusion process with polyester resin, multiaxial glass fabrics and structural SAERfoam®, BSS Composites also opted for SAERflow, our structural flow medium, to ensure perfect wet-out in the shortest possible time. SAERfoam® can be supplied in various sheet sizes or as a CNC-cut kit to facilitate the production of large quantities. By using SAERflow with its improved resin flow, the number of resin feeds can be reduced without sacrificing performance, which in turn reduces preparation time and consumables costs.
BSS Composites chose SAERfoam® because of its high level of structural properties, top quality and competitive cost. The company is now also using SAERflow® to reduce the final cost of climbing walls, thanks to the high flow rate compared to similar materials and the reduction in waste as SAERflow® completely replaces peel ply and external flow ply. The SAERTEX team is available to provide technical support to customers who could benefit from using SAERfoam.
