SAERfoam for Wind

SAERfoam as a sustainable alternative to balsa wood in rotor blades

While the demand for renewable energies is increasing, the scarcity of balsa wood is threatening progress.

Our goal is therefore to replace this conventional material with fiber-reinforced foams such as our SAER foam for wind.

As part of the OptiFoam research project, we are therefore investigating the potential of these fiber-reinforced foams as an alternative to balsa wood and rigid plastic foams such as PVC and PET as core materials in rotor blades.

In collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems (IWES) and other industry partners, we are constantly developing our SAERfoam and adapting it to specific requirements.
