SAERfoam® Series
- SAERfoam® Series
Innovative hybrid core material with 3D glass bridges
SAERfoam is our structural core material with 3D glass bridges. It replaces conventional core materials for composites such as PVC, PET, or balsa in the most innovative way: ultra-light foam (PU/PE/PIR) is combined with 3D glass reinforcements. The result is a hybrid core material with customizable mechanical properties and extremely low weight. In the end product, the glass fibers take over the mechanical performance and efficiency.
Typical areas of application
SAERfoam Variants for every requirement
The SAERfoam series includes the standard variants SAERfoam 80 and SAERfoam 60, as well as the SAERfoam+ Edition. In addition, SAERfoam for Wind was developed specifically for the requirements of the wind industry.
-
SAERfoam 80 – developed for efficient handling of large-scale structures such as boat hulls, decks, and industrial components manufactured using the infusion process.
-
SAERfoam 60 – optimized for process reliability in the RTM process and particularly easy handling compared to conventional core materials.
-
SAERfoam+ Edition – includes all non-standard variants and allows for customer-specific adaptations.
-
SAERfoam for Wind – specially tailored to the requirements of rotor blade and wind power components.
The advantages of SAERfoam at a glance
Material with high compressive and shear strength
The very high shear strength minimizes deflection when the sandwich panel is loaded, thus enabling a reduction in thickness. SAERfoam has 4x higher shear stiffness than PVC and PET.
Economical solution
SAERfoam offers a particularly economical solution. Lower material costs than PVC; lower resin consumption than PET.
Easy processing
SAERfoam is easy and inexpensive to cut. For slightly curved shapes, resin consumption can be reduced due to the natural flexibility of the flat sheets, as no drapable version is required.
Groundbreaking solution for draping without wrinkles and fiber marks
Compared to other structural foams, SAERfoam panels are more flexible and require fewer slits for drapable versions. This reduces additional resin consumption and minimizes the waviness and fiber print of the finished component.
No water absorption
Closed cell core: No water absorption into the core material thanks to the use of closed-cell polymer foams.
