Modernization and expansion: SAERTEX® invests in new hall and machine technology
Saerbeck, September 15, 2017 - SAERTEX is investing in the efficiency of its production at the Saerbeck site. A new state-of-the-art production hall of 10,000 square meters was successfully completed this spring. At the same time, investments were made in new machine technology in the area of carbon production. Both are part of SAERTEX's global production strategy with digitally networked sites in 9 countries on 5 continents.
With the construction of a new hall at the company headquarters in Saerbeck, SAERTEX has opened up an additional 10,000 square meters of production space and now has a total area of 50,000 square meters at the SAERTEX Group's most important production plant. The focus here was on two aspects - creating efficient production and work processes on the one hand and the health aspect for the employees on the other.
In addition to the construction of the new hall, SAERTEX has also invested several million euros in new equipment, such as a HeavyTow system for carbon (CFRP) materials, to optimize production output. This is a response to the increased demand for CFRP materials in markets such as aerospace, rotor blade construction for wind turbines and also for the increasing use of SAERTEX materials in the automotive and boat building sectors.
The new generations of machines in particular have become much more demanding, as they generate more goods in less time. This also has an impact on the employees, who are exposed to greater physical strain as a result. With the infrastructure of the new hall, SAERTEX has created an environment that supports the machine operators in their daily work and thus protects the health of the employees.
With the commissioning of the new production hall in Saerbeck, SAERTEX is setting another milestone in its global production strategy. The first machines in the new hall are already up and running, and this process should be fully completed by the beginning of the new year. In addition to the main plant in Saerbeck, SAERTEX had already responded to the increasing demand for textile reinforcement materials (non-crimp fabrics) made of glass, carbon and aramid fibers in 2016 and expanded its production capacities at the Portugal site by 50 %.
With 9 production sites on 5 continents, SAERTEX has a global presence. Thanks to the comprehensive introduction of the SAP ERP system, these locations are also being networked with each other step by step. In addition to the already digitally connected locations in Saerbeck, Portugal, India and Brazil, the important location in the USA was also successfully converted to the SAP system over the course of the summer. With the help of the new system, internal and external processes can be coordinated even better, thereby improving delivery and performance for customers.
