SAERTEX cooperates with Scott Bader on LEO System

SAERTEX® focuses on innovation and global availability - new partnership with Scott Bader

Paris, March 13, 2019 - SAERTEX has entered into a strategic partnership with the international manufacturer of resin systems, gelcoats and specialty polymers SCOTT BADER for the production and distribution of its SAERTEX LEO system. A cooperation agreement was signed between the two companies at JEC WORLD 2019. The aim is to combine the performance of the two partner companies for applications with the highest fire protection requirements and to further develop the LEO system. The sales and support teams of SAERTEX and SCOTT BADER will work closely together and can guarantee their customers on the global market the rapid availability of fire protection-relevant materials for the production of composites in addition to high-quality advice.

A cooperation under promising conditions: As a specialist, SAERTEX manufactures reinforcement materials made of glass, carbon and aramid fibers. SAERTEX LEO System is the product range within the SAERTEX product program for applications with the highest level of fire protection and, in addition to multiaxial fabrics and core materials, also consists of a specially matched resin system (unfilled and halogen-free) and an easy-to-process gelcoat for achieving the highest fire protection regulations such as EN 45545 in the rail vehicle sector, EN 13501 in the construction sector or the IMO FTP regulations in shipbuilding.The resin system within the LEO modular system will now be supplied by Scott Bader and further developed together with SAERTEX. "All materials used within the LEO system are optimally matched to offer customers a reliable solution with the highest level of fire protection," emphasizes Steven Bakker, Director Industry & Advanced Technologies at SAERTEX. "As soon as we receive an inquiry, the product components from Scott Bader are available within a very short delivery time in order to deliver a complete LEO system to the customer quickly and reliably." Another advantage of the cooperation: Scott Bader's sales and support team in the fire protection sector is, like SAERTEX, positioned worldwide and provides additional support for the LEO products resulting from the cooperation alongside the SAERTEX application consultants.

"The SAERTEX LEO system is a unique material system that combines excellent fire protection with the highest mechanical strength for the manufacture of structural fiber composite components," confirms Neil Gray, Global Market Manager FST at Scott Bader. "Our new resin for the LEO system fulfills all previous functionalities and improves the mechanical properties for structural components." The fiber composites with integrated fire protection from the SAERTEX LEO SYSTEM are used in the marine market, in the construction industry and in the production of rail vehicles; all areas in which the combination of lightweight construction, high mechanical resistance and extreme weather resistance are in demand.

The cooperation agreement was signed on March 13, 2019 at JEC WORLD in Paris, the leading trade fair for composite materials. "Existing customers of SAERTEX LEO will also benefit from the new cooperation with Scott Bader," assures Christoph Geyer, CEO of the SAERTEX Group. The LEO product range is rounded off by two new SAERTEX products: LEO COATED FABRIC and SAER® LEO for RTM processes.
