Application of SAERTEX LEO in FIBRESHIP

SAERTEX® LEO enables safe lightweight construction in shipbuilding

On Tuesday, June 23, 2019, the second public workshop of the FIBRESHIP project took place in La Ciotat, France. To present the results of the project, a full-size block of a fishing research vessel was built as a prototype. Our customer iXBlue equipped this prototype with structural components from our SAERTEX LEO.

The SAERTEX LEO system is our unique material system composed of fiberglass fabrics, resin, foam and gelcoat that meets the highest fire safety standards.FIBRESHIP is an innovative project with a total budget of 11 million euros, of which 9 million euros are funded by the EU's Horizon 2020 funding program. The project demonstrates the possibility of using FRP materials in three categories of vessels: light commercial vessels, passenger and leisure vessels and specialized service vessels.
