Carbon fibres are produced using a process of controlled oxidation and carbonisation of carbon-rich materials which already exist in the form of fibres. The raw material most frequently used is polyacrylonitrile (PAN).

CSM

Chopped Strand Mat. Stitchbonded mats comprising cut glass fibres oriented in all-directions that are free of binders and chemicals. The stitchbonding gives these products excellent “drapability”. Available widths: 30 – 3,600mm.

CFM

Continuous Filament Mat.
Light component between the surface layers of sandwich constructions in composite materials, for reducing weight while simultaneously achieving greater mechanical strength.
The maximum force that the test sample can withstand during a compression test.
Abbreviation for Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic.
