Aramid is an organic polymer that is obtained from a fluid, chemical mixture. The light-yellow filaments can possess different properties, are very strong and have a very high specific modulus.
The fibres are characterised by their extremely high strength, high impact resistance, high elongation-to-break, good vibration damping and resistance to acids and alkalis. They furthermore offer a high degree of thermal and fire resistance.
An autoclave is a gas-tight sealable pressure vessel which is used for the thermal treatment of materials in the overpressure range. Autoclaves are used for sterilisation, curing construction materials, vulcanising tyres and straps as well as for compacting fibre-reinforced composites.
