SAERTEX, an international leader in the production of textile stitch bonded constructions (non-crimp fabrics) for the composite industry, was nominated by the international industry association JEC Composites for the Innovation Prize 2010, in the category of wind energy. The company received the distinction for a hardening procedure developed in collaboration with PN Rotor GmbH from Stade. In the end, SAERTEX was awarded third place.
With the SAERfix® EP adhesive, developed and registered for patent by SAERTEX, the time involved in the attachment of reinforcement textiles to vertical shapes (e.g. rotor blades, ship hulls) is significantly reduced. The product eliminates the need to spray additional adhesive to fix the textiles, which saves money.
SAERfix® EP is compatible with epoxy resin, becomes chemically integrated the course of curing and is simple to use. The fabrics can be removed and reattached as necessary. The fibers in the fabric stay in place better because of SAERfix®. Once attached, the fabric neither shifts nor bulges; it remains in the desired orientation.
In contrast to conventionally applied textile adhesives, SAERfix® EP has practically no influence on the mechanical parameters of the laminate. Thanks to its elastifying effect, the fatigue life can even be improved in some cases.
Trade fair visitors can get information about the prize-winning development SAERfix® EP in person from April 13 - 15 in the Showcase Room at the JEC Paris.
