The specialty magazine “Composites Technology” reports in its June edition on the development of the electric bus EcoRide BE35, with a fuel-cell drive from Proterra LLC in Golden, Colorado (USA). According to the author of the article, the EcoRide public service bus, constructed of SAERTEX fabrics, represents the logical continuation of the know-how that the transportation industry has acquired in multiple, earlier bus projects.

The collaboration of various companies from the composites industry was pivotal in the process. The numbers speak for themselves: The finished bus is about 3.175 kg lighter than its closest competitor in the market for fuel-cell operated busses. The EcoRide BE35 does not need to shy away from comparison with conventional diesel busses in tests, what with demonstrated fuel savings of 400 percent.
