The vacuum assisted process (VAP) uses vacuum technology in the production of fiber-reinforced plastic components.  The injection process, developed and patented by EADS and offered worldwide by SAERTEX as general licensee, functions with membrane-supported, low-pressure infiltration technology. It is quickly becoming the market-leading process in the production of composites, in particular for shipbuilding.

There have already been three workshops on the subject in Finland in the first quarter of 2009. Along with the SAERTEX standards, the participants learned primarily about the impregnation of fabrics in the vacuum process.

The SAERTEX workshop on March 20 in Pietersaari, Finland attracted a great deal of interest: 40 experts as well as ten engineering students witnessed the practical demonstration.
