SAERTEX again participated in the Ecoprofit Project of the District of Steinfurt in 2011, once more receiving certification for its efforts in environmental protection. The certificate stands for the efficient use of resources and active environmental protection within the company. Steinfurt District Administrator Thomas Kubendorff presented the honor to SAERTEX in a recent ceremony.
Since 1999, SAERTEX has employed targeted measures for environmental protection. Presence-detection sensors were installed in the production and administrative areas some years ago; if no employees are present, these sensors shut off the lights automatically. They use efficient electrical hand driers instead of paper hand towels. This reduces the amount of garbage and protects the environment, thanks to an improved CO2 balance. In educational sessions and seminars, SAERTEX employees receive sensitization training about resource conservation (waste, energy water).
Current SAERTEX projects include the implementation of LED lighting systems in the production and administration areas, the resale of fiber remnants to reduce waste production, and the detailed monitoring of energy consumption during the production process to detect opportunities for optimization. These projects not only save resources, but also money, since costs are reduced significantly.
Bruno Lammers, Executive Director of the SAERTEX group, has given top priority to the protection of the environment: "In our company, management bears the responsibility for environmental protection. We ourselves need to set an example, so that our employees will be motivated to become actively involved in environmental protection. We also provide support and consultation to our suppliers and subcontractors in their efforts to keep the environmental effects of their products and processes as low as possible."
