SAERTEX OPENS A WORKS IN CHINA

2008-10-20

The SAERTEX group based in Saerbeck, Germany, opened its eighth location worldwide in Dongying, China, on 08 October 2008. That the figure 8 is considered lucky in China was proven to the world when the Summer Olympic Games opened at 08:08: on 08 August 2008. SAERTEX managing director Bruno Lammers, not himself superstitious, used the fascination of the figure 8 in his opening speech to underline the excellent future opportunities he considers the new works in China will enjoy.

The group invested over 6 million Euros in the works in Dongying, 400 kilometers southeast of Beijing. The new production facility is state-of-the-art and created 50 new jobs.

The new works manufactures products and materials (non-crimp fabrics) for the wind industry, which is one of the most strongly growing industries in China's rapidly developing economy. Its excellent prospects are based not merely on the lucky number 8 but on the consistently high energy needs in China. These will have to be met to a large extent by renewable forms of energy in view of the country's limited resources and environmental problems. Wind energy is actively promoted by the country's government with numerous projects and subsidization programmes.

In addition to the new works the SAERTEX group maintains an office in the Chinese capital Beijing. All group activities on the Asian market are centrally administered by this office.
